What prompted me to give  our readers more information about the Marina was the fact that I wrote about restaurants and was about the write about the Grocerie Stores. I am sure the readers were wondering how large is the Marina population? What are the Geographic Boundaries. Why are there so many great Restaurants and why so many Grocerie Stores.

So here you have it. The coastal community of Marina del Rey, CA is locted in the center of Los Angeles’ Westside between Venice Beach and Playa del Rey. Marina del Rey is about 800+ acres, of which half is under water. After researching it I discovered that it was man made in the late 1950’s. The general borders include the area west of Lincoln Boulevard, east of Via Dolce, north of Ballona Creek and south of Washington Boulevard and the Pacific Ocean. The land and water is owned by the County of Los Angeles and is leased out to private leaseholders on long term agreements. The Greater Marina Del Rey Area is defined by the Zip Code 90292. The boundaries include portions of the City of Los Angeles and portions of the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County.

The population just as the geographic boundaries are tabulated differently. The Marina Del Rey that I mentioned above has approximately 8200+/- inhabitants depending when and who’s statistics you read. the Greater Marina Del Rey defined by the 90292  zip code ha a population of approximately 18,000+/-

Since I mentioned the zip code I might as well give you the Post Office  by the way of all the post offices in the greater Los Angeles West Side, they have one of the friendliest employees &  staff:

Marina del Rey Post Office,4766Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey, CA 90292, 310.306.4533(tel)
