Jamzilla: the closing of the 405 Freeway for 80 hrs. (February 14-17th, 2014)

As most of you know I have written a few blogs about the traffic closures of the 405 Freeway called Carmageddon  I  (http://actvra.in/dPl   ),   Carmageddon finished  (http://actvra.in/fxq   )   and then Carmageddon II (http://actvra.in/HvB ) in the past.

Well this time, the powers to be changed the name to Jamzilla  and  decided to close three lanes of the 405 Freeway. I saw the huge jam on the news Friday and dreaded the idea that I had to go in this very stretch on Saturday. Needless to say I was not looking forward to it.

Now with that said, Saturday rolled around and Diane and I were heading on the 405. Just imagine my surprise of what we saw. The whole idea of the shutdown of all the lanes was to work on re-paving the 405.

First I was shocked then I was surprised and ultimately I was outraged. Look at these pictures. Through the entire stretch of the shut down we saw about 6-8 Police Officers monitoring the shut down.

Ironically we only saw a total of four (4) workers. All we saw were lanes shut down and no workers in site. Clearly this was a terrible injustice promulgated on Los Angeles Drivers and clearly the Taxpayers were scammed with Jamzilla. Look at these pictures and you tell me where I am going wrong! Someone needs to hold CALTRANS accountable and the politicians who supported this!

I am so amazed and shocked that there were hardly any workers to be seen. So if we understand this story correctly, we would have expected hundreds of workers working on three lanes since only one to two lanes were open and we would have newly paved lanes. Instead we saw pictures of no one around accept the lanes being closed.
