The Missing & Re-Apprearing Recent Blog Posts on your Profile!!
The Missing & Re-Apprearing Recent Blog Posts on your Profile!! OK does anyone else have this problem on AR? For the past couple of weeks I have noticed that when I receive a comment from one of the Active Rain Members, I like to respond back and reciprocate with a comment on that person’s post. Intermittently I notice that when I click on the profile there are times that that person does not have “recent blogs” it just magically disappear. Then I could come back five or ten minutes later same issue…then about an hour later or the next day all the previous posts are back on the profile’s right side? I have actually emailed members and when they checked they had no issues it was back as if it was always there? Let me know if you are having these issues intermittently....

Earth Day is celebrated in The United States on April 22nd Earth Day was conceived in 1969 by Sen. Gaylord Nelson, D-Wisconsin, and his assistant Dennis Hayes, after a trip they took to Santa Barbara following the devastating oil spill off the Southern California coast. According to legend, the men were so outraged by what they saw that upon returning to Washington, D.C., Nelson introduced a bill designating April 22 as a national day to celebrate the Earth. The date was chosen to help commemorate the birth of famed naturalist and conservationist John Muir, who was born on April 21, 1838. There are others who might have a different recollection of how this day came about, the above version seemed the most plausible to me! I still remember the inception, better known now as the beginning of this movement. I was in High School and my father would let me drive his 1968 Chevrolet Impala with its V-8 engine on special occasions to school. The year was 1970 and those were the days of Leaded Gas Guzzling Cars; there were no Prius, Volts or Teslas on the road. The example of status consisted having a 351 or bigger engine, the one that guzzled gasoline, burned rubber and polluted the air. Smoking Marlboros and other brands of cigarettes was cool and clearly a sign of being hip and trendy. The name of the game was ”… it was cool to be polluting the environment…” In the early 1960’s there were various movements, the music revolution came to the forefront and it became the face for change, the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix and I could go on and on. In addition to the change in music, there were protests against the Vietnam War and of all things there was this “…Movement about saving the earth…” next thing you know April 22nd 1970 was declared as Earth Day! In those days any self respecting Business Man & seasoned Politician considered this just as a fad that would fade away with time, just as the Flower Children and Hippies would fade away. Not many realized that this day would become the face of the biggest Environmental Movement in the world and that it would be embraced by most people from all over the world. Who would have thought in 1970 that this day would become main stream and not just trendy? Who would have guessed that this movement would morph into many different directions all leading back to idea of respecting our environment, our natural resources and the need to have a clear focus on protecting the environment? Today we have Green Buildings, Construction that is better known as Sustainable or Green Construction. Water Conservation in the Showers, the Low Flow Toilets, energy efficient appliances and now days we take many of these home features for granted. Recycling is another spin off of this event. All this exists today, thanks to Earth Day. Bike Share System: have you heard of it?Beverly Hills & Santa Monica are considering it. Boston has it. On my last trip to Boston, I have noticed that the “air” was clearer then on my previous visits and visibly there appeared to be less pollution. How is that possible, I wondered and started looking around and discovered that all the Taxis were all Toyota Priuses or other electrically powered vehicles? The bulk of the vehicular traffic was underground and various parks were strategically created all over the city with greenery and more specifically Trees. This was complements of the “Big Dig”. I and then saw all these uniformed Bike Stands, so needless to say conversation ensued with friends and the “walking city of Boston” has turned into a “Bike Share: Biking City”. Our friends loved it. Basically you pick a bike up for discussions sake near your office and then you drop it off near your destination. Quite simple and all you have to do is pay a monthly fee and you have access to these bikes. On a side note our friend has similar tastes great food, great wines and desert, but she was at least 20-30 lbs lighter then we were, since we drive everywhere in the Greater Los Angeles Area. There has been a lot of talk in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica about implementing a similar system. Needless to say Santa Monica & Beverly Hills would be well suited for such a Bike Share Program due to our temperate climate with virtually sunny all year around and even the terrain is easier since it is mostly flat, unlike Boston, MA where you have quite a few hills to take on. What amazes me is both cities are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars analyzing the feasibility of such a program. We already have bike paths so what is the problem?? This I find for the most part a total waste of money. Here we go Politicians love to justify their existence by spending Tax Payers moneys in endless analysis. Why not just go talk to the people who implemented it in Boston, MA and ask for their Implementation Plans and just follow it with a few modifications to fit the local community and culture. Last time I read about the status of this program: Santa Monica has allocated $2+million dollars to do preliminary research and analysis of other programs. I mean REALLY??? The politicians are bogged down should this be a local or a regional program? Needless to say they are just incapable of making things happen. Next thing it will be a Partisan issue instead of what would be good for the locals, the tourists and the environment which would help all. Let’s be realistic the Greater Los Angeles could use some “fresh air” since everyone is driving from point A to point B and back to point AJ Now if you do not want to be bogged down with red tape and bureaucratic nonsense in your real estate purchase or in your sale of your home then please reach out to me directly! read moreWhen Your Email & Your Website are down what do you do?
So when your email & your Website are down what do you do? Endre Barath, Beverly Hills Realtor wants to know! I am experiencing a situation that I can hardly write about. Five years ago this happened once, that my website and the emails were down for a few hours. Currently as we speak I am not getting my emails nor is my website www.endrebarath.com available to the public. Unfortunately neither my clients nor anyone who is trying to reach me can do that outside of calling me on my phone or texting me. For being so dependent on email communication and having a large international client base is making this a very frustrating time for me. Clearly there are some red flags here I need to fix immediately. Clearly this is a good time for me to revisit how I can prevent this situation i.e.: that this does not happen again. My website host’s servers are down. In turn my email is down because my website is not pointing the MX Records to Go Daddy Dot Com who is hosting my emails; therefore I currently am not receiving any emails. Many years ago I switched my email from the MLS.com since they were pretty unreliable and had many intermittent outages. Clearly I was concerned about the effect it had on my client service and client communication and my overall business. Today as I am in the middle of negotiating with a client who is in China and we are trying to buy a property here in Los Angeles, this makes it slightly frustrating. So now let me share with you what I started doing to get proactive: 1. I have been trying to recover my old Gmail Account endre barath@gmail.com which I have not used in over six or seven years. Needless to say I am not tech savvy enough to do that, because there is a person in Hungary who has the same name as mine but he has EndreBara’th@gmail.com which is unfortunately Google is not differentiating between my name and the Hungarian person with the accent on the second “a”. Go figure the challenges we encounter. 2. So with that said I have created a new Gmail address. This one actually works now! EndreBarath.homes@gmail.com is my new temporary email so I can conduct business until the original comes back on line! 3. So at the same time I am notifying most of my client base who might be trying to reach out to me as we speak. There are about 30+/- who are immediately in need of my new/temporary email. So with that said what else should I do? What would you do in this situation? Yes I know I could read a book, watch sports, enjoy dinner and hope for the best. Seriously what advice would you give me? If you are a consumer who is considering buying or selling a home, investment real estate, vacation homes, or beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Blood Moon: April 15th 2014 also known as a Full Lunar Eclipse! This phenomenon has brought out to Griffith Observatory in Los Feliz, close to three thousand curious Moon Watchers. Just in case you did not know Los Feliz is a part of Los Angeles and also is home to the Greek Theater. For me this occurrence has brought back some wonderful childhood memories to the time when my father took me to an observatory and I was able to see my first full lunar eclipse. It was especially exciting that I was allowed to stay up late and be able to go with my father to see the Lunar Eclipse. While we were waiting for ‘the big moment’ he introduced me to different stars to and explained how they were named based on their shape and brightness. That is when I learned about “The Big Dipper” it was a very memorable night. I still enjoy looking up to the sky not only at night but in the day time as well. So today, I decided that I was not going to drive to Griffith Observatory, but go out from our home and see the moon. Clearly not as bright as seeing it with the fancy telescopes and not as bright and large as some of the News Photographers will take but just as exiting for me. So here are a couple pictures that I took without a tripod and without fancy telescopes I thought I share with you. There will be three more Lunar Eclipses in the next 1.5 years. So if you have a chance checks it out. The next one will be October 8, 2014. It appears to be about every six months for the next 18 months. Quite interesting to have four Lunar Eclipses in two years. The conspiracy theorists will be busy for the next couple of years. I will look forward to reading about their theoriesJ. Keep in mind I love the Blood Moons, since the 2004 Red Sox’s 1st World Championship occurred on a Blood MoonJ This was the first time a Lunar Eclipse ever occurred on World Series Championship and in case you did not know here is a picture to remind youJ.
